Sometimes you just need an SUV that has more space. These popular three-row SUVs come from Chevrolet, Kia, and Subaru. If you’re looking for a sport utility vehicle with standard safety features and an extra row of space, look no further.
The Chevrolet Traverse is a popular three-row SUV that you can probably skip
When edmunds rated the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse, there were many positives to note. It offers generous space in all three rows for passengers and has an easy-to-use infotainment system. All trim levels get 18 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined. The V6 engine makes 310 horsepower, fast enough for a sport utility vehicle of this size.
While there’s nothing wrong with the Traverse, it doesn’t have as many features as some of its similarly priced competitors. Drivers report that the Traverse can be difficult to drive and park due to poor visibility. Edmunds estimates that the Chevy SUV would cost $185 a month in gas, well below the average of $261.
Inside, some of the materials could use an update. Edmunds points out that while the Traverse is a three-row SUV, quality isn’t always enough anymore. “Decidedly average,” said one review.
MSRP Range: $34,220 – $53,900
Check out the Kia Sorento for a popular three-row SUV option
The 2023 Kia Sorento is a good three-row SUV at a (presumably) reasonable price. The rear seats have plenty of legroom for adults, and the infotainment system is new and easy to use. For those who have to transport a lot of people on a regular basis, the Sorento is a good option. Kia’s 10-year/100,000-mile warranty is just another perk.
Kia includes more standard safety features than most of the competition. Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Mitigation and Driver Attention Warning are just a few of the standard features. Buyers can opt for a hybrid or plug-in hybrid in addition to the normal powertrains. All-wheel drive is also available. For the estimated price of $30,000, the 2023 Sorento is hard to beat.
Estimated price: Starting at around $30,000
Don’t count out the capable Subaru Ascent
Now is the time if you haven’t considered the 2023 Subaru Ascent for your next popular three-row SUV. It offers a high-quality cabin and all-wheel drive is standard, making it ideal for winter. Outward visibility is excellent and makes the SUV easy to park. The 2023 Ascent can even tow 5,000 pounds! Edmunds estimates that the Subaru SUV would cost around $188 per month on gas, reasonable compared to the average of $261 per month.
While the Ascent isn’t the most off-road-capable vehicle out there, it’s a great three-row SUV that can get a lot of people off the beaten path. Some of the best safety features on the 2023 Subaru Ascent include automatic braking in reverse and the EyeSight assist monitor. Blind spot monitoring also helps to monitor the blind spots of vehicles or other hazards.
MSRP Range: $33,895 – $48,195
A regular two-row SUV just won’t cut it if you need room for six or more. These popular three-row SUVs have all the safety, technology, and space people want.
