The Ford F-150 is THE truck. That’s not to say it’s objectively the best, but it’s the most popular of its kind ever made. The era of electric cars is upon us, and still, the Ford F-150 is a major player with its most recent version, the Ford F-150 Lightning. While it stays true to the other F-150 models, the Lightning’s interior is a bit sleeker and looks like a million bucks.
What is the interior of the Ford F-150 Lightning like?
Ford did not completely redesign the Lightning’s interior to resemble the Enterprise. In fact, at first glance, you might think it’s just an F-150. However, Ford actually sized up the joint a bit.
motor trend called the interior of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning “sleek and functional.” Although MT notes that the interior is almost identical to other Ford F-150 interiors, one major update is the addition of the huge infotainment screen. If it looks a bit (a lot) like the screen on the Ford Mustang Mach-E, well, that’s because it’s that screen.
MotorTrend reviewers note that while they don’t normally like “soft” buttons, Ford has done a good job with these. Climate control, menus, music and more are said to be easy to adjust, and switching between menus is simple. Cleaver’s features like automatically displaying loadout locations, sharp graphics, and a fast processor make the user experience feel luxurious.
Not surprisingly, the screen size is quite impressive and adds another level of luxury, giving the Ford F-150’s sleek cabin a luxurious feel.
Are the seats in the Ford F-150 Lightning comfortable?
Ford made a few changes in this department for the Lightning. The front seats can now lie flat, allowing the driver and passenger to nap while charging. MotorTrend praises its ingenuity, but notes that it’s not the most comfortable position. To fully recline the seat, the rear seats must be raised and the knees must still be bent to 90 degrees. Overall, MotorTrend calls the seats in the F-150 Lightning “comfortable, supportive and roomy.”
The rear seats offer plenty of head and leg room for passengers.
Is the interior of the Ford F-150 Lightning better than that of the Rivian R1T?
MotorTrend admits that the Rivian’s interior is a more luxurious experience, as it should be, given the much higher starting price. However, MT reviewers chose the Lightning as the overall best buy because the interior is still very nice and offers more value than the expensive Rivian.
Even though the regular F-150 interior and the Lightning’s interior are very similar, there’s no question that the handful of interior upgrades Ford made to the electric version put the Lightning ahead of its gas cousin.
