The 2022 Toyota Tundra can do just about everything you’d expect a full-size pickup to do for towing, hauling, and general pickup. But recently, I got a chance to test drive a Tundra that takes things to the next level, the 2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone. And, it must be said, with a sticker price of over $75,000, this isn’t your average truck. It is a luxury truck.
What’s so special about the Tundra Capstone?
As the top-of-the-line version of Toyota’s full-size pickup, the Tundra Capstone is special. It comes with air springs, lots of chrome, and a 14.0-inch touchscreen. And with this behemoth of a Toyota truck, that big screen certainly comes in handy.
In the past, trucks were just tools. They weren’t where the brands chose to flex the latest and greatest features, but the 2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone shows just how much things have changed.
A 12.3 digital gauge cluster displays all the important information you need to know about your full-size truck, while acoustic glass keeps you insulated from those who didn’t spend $75,000 on your truck.
The 2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone Is Still Ready For Trucks
Despite coming with heated and cooled front seats, if you need a capable luxury truck, the Tundra Capstone is just that. According to car and driverIt comes with the 3.4-liter iForce MAX V6 hybrid engine that makes 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. And even though it only has six cylinders, it’s easy to be fooled into thinking the Tundra still has a V8.

In terms of towing, the top-tier Tundra can handle up to 10,340 lbs. It can also carry up to 1,485 pounds. It may not be as much as other Tundra models, but Capstone has a few tricks up its sleeve. Adaptive dampers and a new rear air suspension system come standard. The rear air springs allow you to raise and lower the bed as needed, which is extremely convenient in a truck this size.
Another useful piece of equipment is the camera system. Driving a full-size truck can seem like a chore around town. But the many camera angles Tundra Capstone offers can make even a novice truck driver feel confident.
Final Thoughts on the Ultimate Toyota Pickup
There’s no getting around it, the 2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone doesn’t come cheap. But it gives you almost all the features offered in this full-size truck. Its spacious interior is packed with comfort features, including heated and ventilated rear seats. Plus, you even get things like wireless charging.

The Capstone Tundra is not right for everyone. If you haven’t set foot in a pickup truck since the early 2000s, you’re likely to be surprised at what Toyota has done to this workhorse. And there is something to be said about it.
Americans love their full-size trucks, and some models are the hottest new vehicles on the market. And if you want a luxury vehicle that can tow, maybe $75,000 isn’t such an outrageous price for a truck of this caliber.
