The continuing shortage of semiconductor chips affects automakers in several ways. Most have built vehicles without some of the features consumers want, hoping the shortages will end. The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 is one of these trucks. The chip shortage isn’t the whole story of what’s going on with this truck. Sit back, relax, and enjoy what’s going on with one of the most popular Chevy trucks ever.

One of the features that Chevy decided to do without on the Silverado was wireless phone charging. This omission was a direct result of the chip shortage. GM authority tells us that starting November 21, 2022, new Silverado 1500 models will be able to enjoy this feature again.

Unfortunately, if you already have one of these new Chevy trucks, you can’t add this feature. There is no update for models already on the road. The door is still open for this feature to be added to models that don’t have it in the future.
Which versions of the Chevy Silverado 1500 should have wireless phone charging?
This feature is normally optional for LT, RST and LT Trail Boss models. It is standard on ZR2, LTZ and High Country trim levels. If you drive a WT, Custom, or Custom Trail Boss, you won’t have wireless charging as a standard option or feature.
When wondering if the truck you see has this feature, look at the label. If the code K4C appears, that Chevy truck includes wireless phone charging. If the code is 00C, the function will not charge your phone wirelessly on this truck.

Some 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 trucks were built with power outlets and the hardware for Super Cruise, but both features did not work. Now that the chip shortage restriction has been resolved, consumers should be able to activate these features soon.
Below: Your Chevy Silverado’s daytime running lights may not turn off

Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are a fantastic invention. These lights make it easier for oncoming drivers to see your vehicle during the day. While this is a great safety feature, the DRLs are supposed to be disabled when the headlights are activated. Some GM models, including the 2022 and 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup trucks, have DRLs that do not deactivate.
GM has issued a product recall for this problem which does not meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. With your lights still on, oncoming drivers could experience unnecessary staring, increasing the chance of a crash.
GM will contact consumers of impacted vehicles and certified technicians will update the Body Control Module software at the dealership or via an over-the-air update at no cost to the consumer.

Neither: How much will the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 cost?

Every year, the prices of vehicles increase. The 2023 Silverado receives some of the smallest price increases in the industry. The price increases for each model of this Chevy pickup are:
- WEIGHT – $800
- Custom – $1,100
- Custom Trail Boss: $1,400
- LT – $1,400
- FIRST – $1,500
- Track Boss LT – $1,800
- LTZ – $1,600
- High Country – $1,400
While we don’t like paying more, these price increases are pretty modest for a full-size truck.
