With global supply chain issues plaguing automakers throughout 2022, the cost of manufacturing has risen dramatically. This has led to MSRP increases for most 2023 models. While Ford has raised prices on its entry-level F-150 by several thousand dollars, it’s still one of the cheapest trucks around.
There really isn’t any full-size pickup truck left with an MSRP under $30k. So much for the cheap work truck. Here’s how the 2023 MSRPs stack up:

How is Ford changing the F-150 XL for 2023?
Ford had to remove several modern features from its 2022 F-150 XL to maintain the truck’s $29,000 MSRP. Now that the automaker is increasing the price of the truck, it can afford to add basic amenities like power windows and door locks.

Even in 2022, the Ford F-150 XL offered a lot of value for its low price. It beat out the competition with an 8-inch touchscreen, cloth seats, Ford Sync4, and even some Co-Pilot360 features. The F-150 XL also had selectable drive modes, a shift-on-the-fly transfer case, 10-speed automatic transmission, and even headlights that come on automatically when you activate the wipers.
But it was also missing some modern features. So even though the truck had automatic emergency braking, it didn’t even have cruise control. And of course, electric windows and locks are at an additional cost. By 2023, Ford is making the base F-150 XL comfort package, with power windows and locks, as well as cruise control, standard on every truck.
In addition, Ford will offer a new off-road package for the XL.

As the Ford As the F-150 Raptor’s MSRP increased, the automaker released the more affordable “Tremor” package on mid-level F-150s. Now the trend continues with the new F-150 Rattler package in XL trim.
This package adds skid plates, tuned off-road shocks, and a locking rear differential to the 4WD F-150 XL. Off-road driver aids include hill descent control, and the package even upgrades the truck’s tires.
