If something is missing from the base finish, you can always add a package to get the desired features.
The 2023 BMW X1 was the best luxury SUV in the subcompact category
In the luxury subcompact SUV category, Kelley’s Blue Book I thought the 2023 BMW X1 was the best of the bunch. It offers an updated look and plenty of technology to make driving easier. All-wheel drive is standard on all trim levels, and the turbocharged engine is better than ever. The 2023 X1 starts at $39,100 and has a destination fee of $995.
On Kelley Blue Book’s Best Buy award list for the first time, BMW included blind spot warning, forward collision warning and a new safe exit system. While standard, some optional features include Traffic Jam Assistant for hands-free driving in slow traffic on some highways.
The turbocharged four-cylinder gets 241bhp by 2023, 13 more than last year. It also has 295 pound-feet of torque over last year’s 258. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission offers a smooth ride.

The 2023 Genesis GV70 was the best compact luxury SUV
For the ultimate luxury compact SUVs, the 2023 Genesis GV70 is packed with features. All-wheel drive comes standard, and the Genesis offers two solid engine options. Choose between a 300-hp 2.5T option or a 275-hp 3.5T engine. A 14.5-inch multimedia screen and massaging driver’s seats add to the interior technology.
Genesis offers a ten-year/100,000-mile warranty on the engine and transmission. Bumper-to-bumper coverage lasts for five years or 60,000 miles. A limited-slip rear differential and electric traction/stability control make the GV70 comfortable to drive. Starting at $42,900 with a destination fee of $1,095, the Genesis SUV is a good buy.

Genesis had another winner in the GV80
When it comes to midsize luxury SUVs, the 2023 Genesis GV80 has more to offer. Inside, the GV80 has a spacious and luxurious cabin, and the aforementioned class-leading warranty doesn’t hurt. This is the third time this vehicle has made the Best Buy list, thanks to the addition of many standard features that the competition charges heavily for.
Most Genesis SUVs are configured with two rows, but buyers can add the third row from the factory. If you add the Advance Package, leather seats, ventilated front seats, and a surround-view monitor are included. The Prestige package adds Nappa leather seats, a suede headliner and heated/ventilated second-row seats.
Buyers can opt for the base engine or upgrade to the twin-turbo V6 with 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. Either comes with all-wheel drive, making it suitable for those in colder climates.
