Oops. Someone in the GMC marketing department is having a bad day today. The company just got busted for editing a new GMC Sierra 1500 EV truck into an image used by Rivian for his truck. The two images look the same, except the trucks are different. The GMC Sierra 1500 EV pickup is brand new, and that’s probably not how GMC wants it to be remembered.
It would take a keen eye to spot the photo.
Much of the image is familiar, which GMC was asked to do the copying. He is now removed from GMC’s Instagram account. But, you can see the photos and a comparison in Car Scoops. The images we see from the manufacturers are their own, and these types of compounds are generally used for design purposes only and do not reach public accounts. However, in this case, the leaves swirling behind the trucks are identical to the background.

Is GMC making a power saw?
GMC’s new Sierra EV pickup was announced last week and it looks impressive. Not too long ago, horsepower figures of 300 or 400 horsepower seemed huge. But, electric vehicles are beating those numbers on a regular basis. For example, the GMC Hummer EV has 1,000 horsepower, a number that was reserved for $1 million supercars like Bugattis. Now the Sierra EV will have 754 horsepower and a staggering 785 pound-feet of torque, just like the upcoming Silverado EV pickup.
The truck needs to turn enough, GMC says, for this truck to hit 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds. Beyond that, the truck will also be able to do a lot of things, like hauling and towing. Like the regular Sierra 1500 and Silverado 1500 pickups, the new Sierra EV is simply GMC’s most luxurious version of Chevy’s electric pickup.
How much does the GMC electric pickup cost?
The GMC Sierra Denali Edition 1 will cost $107,000 and the company will make fewer than 10,000 Edition 1 trucks. That doesn’t mean GMC won’t make more trucks, though. For now, you can reserve a truck with a $100 refundable reservation. The company says it will also make versions of the truck that cost between $50,000 and $80,000. The base WT version of the Chevy Silverado EV starts at around $40,000. But, within minutes of opening the order banks for the new truck, GMC sold out.
Can you buy a Rivian R1T now?
You can order a Rivian R1T from their website today. Rivian now also delivers trucks to reservation holders. So far, the company said it has delivered 12,278 of the 14,317 R1T midsize pickups it produced in the third quarter of 2022. Overall, the company has about 100,000 pre-orders for R1T pickups and R1S SUVs. He also said that Amazon has ordered 100,000 electric trucks, which will go into production soon.
