All Chevrolet El Camino and Ford Ranchero Ute fans still have options. Although there are no car-based platforms for any of the companies to build a Ute, you can find conversion kits for certain makes of car. Then there are those who prefer to do the conversion themselves and do it to a new 2023 BMW M4 Competition Coupe. That’s what you’re looking at here.
Who did the BMW Ute conversion?
This was on display at the 2022 SEMA Show in Las Vegas last week. There are all kinds of monsters and unicorns on the show in any given year. The BMW Ute shown here is just one of them.
STEK Automotive used the truck to showcase its scratch-resistant wraps, and using this as a theme attracted many curious SEMA attendees. A company called DinMann from Los Angeles handled the actual conversion. It mainly specializes in BMW accessories and body kits.
What did DinMann do to build this BMW Ute?
All carbon fiber bits are DinMann parts. These include an engine cover and carbon fiber dash trim, along with pieces on the bumpers and side skirts. Headlights and windows feature a dark tint.
DinMann he had to cut out the rear of the hood, fabricate the bed within a metal reinforcing frame, and create the tailgate out of the M4’s boot lid. Used part of the rear bench seat, but only for storage purposes. Glass was also made for the small side window, although an infill is shown in some pictures. This helps improve flow from the top. What this Ute lacks is a tonneau cover, but DinMann is working on that right now.
Competition identification means it includes an upgraded 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine with 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. Talk about hauling your ass. They also have all-wheel drive with BMW X-Drive rear bias system.
Is it a 2023 M4 competition or a competition CSL?
While you would expect this to be a recent total, it is not. It was bought new in April. The retail price of a basic M4 Comp is over $75,000. Could it have been an M4 CSL? After all, they come with the removal of the rear seat. If so, the power rises to 543 hp. That’s plenty of power to haul a trailer or tow a yacht. Like.

None of the information posted online indicates whether it has an eight-speed automatic or manual transmission. Of course, we would like it to be a manual, but we are not picky. And we don’t know how this conversion affects the weight bias, but let’s face it, this is for show and not for the track. To that end, it has to be the fastest, best-handling truck out there.
