If you have a Ram 1500, have you looked at its rear end lately? The tailgate may have fallen off. This may sound silly, but it’s actually a major problem. More than 1.24 million Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 models from 2019 to 2022 have unsecured rear doors.
2019 – 2022 Ram 1500 Tailgate Recall Information
According to jalopnik, Ram 1500 owners need to take a look at their tailgates. There is an official recall after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) received complaints about loose rear doors.
More than 1.24 million Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks from 2019 to 2022 worldwide may have faulty tailgate latches. As a result, it may randomly open while driving. This could cause all of your items to spill onto the road, increasing the risk of potential accidents and injuries.
But Stellantis is currently not aware of any injuries related to this issue. However, Stellantis received over 800 warranty claims.
The problem boils down to misaligned truck strike plates. Therefore, the rear doors may not latch correctly in the upright position.
What to do if your Ram truck is at risk
If your Ram 1500, 2500, or 3500 model is at risk, you may receive an email notification about this issue. Sellantis could begin alerting owners in January when inspections and realignment services become available.
You will need to take your truck to the dealer for an inspection. If the plates have misalignment, a technician will adjust the plates so they fit correctly. Equipment will be replaced at no cost to owners as needed.
But Stellantis first started looking into this issue in July. So, it’s not exactly new. Some owners may have already paid to have their trucks repaired. It is currently unclear if they will be reimbursed for equipment and maintenance costs.
You don’t have to go back to the same dealer where you bought your truck. A local Stellantis dealer will be fine. Just be sure to call ahead or go online to make an appointment ahead of time. This could help reduce waiting time.
Also, this issue is not related to the multi-function tailgate or tailgates with integrated sensors. So consider yourself lucky if your ride is equipped with any of those options.
More than 120,000 vehicles are at risk in Canada, while 26,000 trucks are impacted in Mexico. Other countries account for 27,000 models. So this is mainly a problem in America.
Does the Ram 1500 have a lot of recalls?

The Ram 1500 is doing well when it comes to recalls. He has had four recalls so far this year. But the 2022 Ford F-150 has racked up nine recalls. Also, the tailgate latch isn’t exactly the most dangerous problem.
In mid-November, nearly half a million Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks were recalled due to a fire hazard related to the turbodiesel engine. Likewise, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe currently has a sale stop due to sudden loss of engine power.
Stellantis ranks fourth with the most withdrawals. It has experienced eight problems in three million vehicles. But that covers Dodge, Ram, Fiat, Jeep, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Maserati, etc. Ford leads the pack with more than 8.6 million recalled vehicles.
