You can finally feast your eyes on the wild new Ram 1500 Revolution concept. We’ve been waiting a long time to see the electric Ram pickup, but all we get is one look! We don’t have much information on the Ram Revolution other than a few features, and one of them is currently illegal.
One of the Ram 1500 Revolution’s Potential Features Is Illegal
Finally, the Ram 1500 Revolution concept took the stage after Stellantis teased us about the new electric pickup truck for months. However, the Revolution concept has some potential problems to address.
For example, Business Insider points out that it has an illegal feature. The Revolution has cameras instead of the traditional side mirrors. This is to reduce drag and make the truck more aerodynamic.
However, it is illegal in the United States. Side-view cameras aren’t exactly a ban, but all new vehicles sold in the United States are required to have side mirrors that show what’s to the side and behind drivers.
But the side mirrors could soon undergo safety testing by US highway regulators. They may become illegal by the time the Ram EV comes out.
The Ram revolution comes too late
After waiting for the Ram 1500 Revolution to come out and compete with the Ford F-150 Lightning, we only have the concept. We hoped more information would be available with the debut of the Ram Rev.
The Ram electric pickup truck is expected to go into production in 2024. That means it could be a 2025 model. The Ford F-150 Lightning will have a second generation by then. Plus, the Chevy Silverado EV has already been seen in tow tests. It could beat the Ram EV to market.
Also, we haven’t seen the production model. The Ram Revolution concept is not the final design and things may change before it goes into production. Perhaps it will have regular side mirrors by 2025.
We still can’t say for sure if Revolution is worth waiting for because we didn’t get any stats. Ram suggests the Revolution will have more range, higher towing capacity, higher payload capacity, and faster load times than its rivals.
There is nothing to back up those claims at this time. But the truck will need to tow more than 11,000 pounds, and the Silverado EV claims a 400-mile range. Plus, it’s hard to speculate on the price of a truck that’s that far away.
The revolution is a bit gimmicky

The Ram 1500 Revolution sports swing doors that open in opposite directions without a center bar. These designs are often used in concepts to provide a better view of the interior. They rarely make it to production because they might have less durability.
One of the infotainment screens can be moved from the center console and used in other locations. So is it a removable tablet? We hope you don’t have cheap parts that break easily. Also, what happens when someone drops it in a parking lot or accidentally loses it?
Shadow mode allows the truck to follow someone and avoid obstacles. But Tesla vehicles can’t even tell if a driver is actually in the front seat. Also, will an artificial intelligence face be shown to take commands?
We’ll have to see it to believe it because even the Jeep Grand Wagoneer came out with a lot of software bugs to fix.
If all the features of the concept make it to the production model, then the Ram Revolution could be quite enticing and futuristic. But some of the features are quite over the top, if not illegal.
