With the discontinuation of the Toyota Land Cruiser, the 2022 Lexus LX600 is essentially the only way to get Toyota’s full-size SUV here in the United States. I recently had the pleasure of testing this Lexus SUV, specifically the LX600 Ultra Luxury. And while this vehicle comes with all the bells and whistles, it does have a few drawbacks.
What is the most luxurious Lexus SUV?
By far, the Lexus LX600 Ultra Luxury is the most luxurious Lexus SUV model. And with a cost of over $125,000, it had better be so. As tested, the 2022 LX600 I drove has a sticker price of $128,030. That price puts this SUV in serious luxury territory.
The LX600 Ultra Luxury comes equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine. This engine is a departure from a traditional V8, but makes 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. If you’re wondering, this engine handles highway speeds with ease and has a combined mpg of 22.
The 2022 LX600 Ultra Luxury lives up to its name
In terms of luxury, the LX600 Ultra Luxury really shines. It comes loaded with all the features you’d expect from a luxury SUV. From soft closing doors to extremely comfortable seats. I drove this vehicle on a six hour road trip and did not feel fatigued at all, thanks to the cool and heated leather seats.
According to Engine1For all the luxury, the LX600 still has the off-road chops the Land Cruiser is known for. And while no one will be using this setup on the trail, it should be able to tackle things like snow with ease.

One annoyance I found with the 2022 Lexus LX600 Ultra Luxury is the lack of a front-facing wireless phone charger. In a world where even the Toyota Corolla has that feature, you’d think Lexus would make it a standard feature on this luxury SUV.
The Lexus LX600 Ultra Luxury only seats four
If you want a family SUV, you’ll want to look elsewhere. The LX600 Ultra Luxury is a full-size SUV that only seats four. Other models come with three rows of seats with more cargo area. You might be wondering why this vehicle only seats four, and that’s a valid question.

The Ultra Luxury is designed to be chauffeured, and frankly, it does a great job. Rear passengers have huge seats that can recline all the way back. A large screen in the center console gives access to things like a massage function, as well as heated and cooled seats. Riding in the back makes you feel like one of the most important people in the world. And that’s where this full-size SUV really shines.
Unfortunately, this seating configuration reduces cargo space. But, as long as you know what you’re getting into, the LX600 Ultra Luxury is practical enough. The real question is whether some of the compromises this SUV makes are worth it. And if you want a limo experience in an SUV, they just might be.
