Everything is expensive today. From grocery stores to automobiles, we all feel the capitalization markup of each industry. Though widespread, at this point, the car market is seeing price hikes in huge balloons rubbing against total madness. The newest price craze is the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X AEV, which sells for a cartoon price of $90,000.
How much do you have to pay for a van in 2022?
With the production difficulties of the past two years, there has been a rise in inflated used cars due to a shortage of new cars and high demand for used ones. It sucks, but at least it makes sense with what we learned about basic economics in high school.
The crazy part is how many new cars are coming out with price tags like the Sierra. $90k is basically $100k. When I was a kid, $100k cars were a Ferrari 348, Rolls-Royce, Dodge Vipers (more like $50k), and other high-end luxury and sports cars. Does $100k get you a GMC these days? Let’s go! I don’t like GMC, but no GMC should be $100k.
Once again, car prices have gone up. We have to live with it, but you can still buy a number of trucks for under $35k, like the Hyundai Santa Cruz, Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma, Ford Maverick, and more. Hell, you can get a Ford Raptor or a Ram TRX for less.
2023 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X: Price and Specs
Ok, so we’ve established that the price for the new off-road-focused Sierra truck is exorbitantly priced—$90,440 to be exact—but it just might be worth it.
It’s worth noting that this price reflects the AT4X with the $6,895 AEV package. GMC has partnered with truck suppliers, American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), to add more capability and toughness to the already off-road-focused AT4X.
Venturing ain’t cheap, apparently
According to car and driver, the AEV package swaps out the Sierra’s regular bumper for a specially fabricated steel bumper that allows it to fit 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory Mud-Terrain tires. This new bumper also increases the truck’s approach angle. Ride height is also increased by 0.4 inches to a commanding 11.2 inches. The undercarriage benefits from five hot-forged boron steel skid plates.
This AEV Package builds on the already upgraded AT4X Package that more closely compares to the Chevy Silverado ZR2 with larger wheels, off-road bumpers, suspension lift and skid plates – AT4X Package carries a $17,000 premium on its own before the AEV Package .
