The Ford Bronco once again rivaled the Jeep Wrangler, the Ford Maverick was a muscle car that is now a popular tiny truck, and the Chevy Blazer destroyed its heritage. Now rumors suggest that the Jeep Comanche is next, and speculation is running wild.
Is the Jeep Comanche the next Jeep truck?
The Jeep Comanche may be back soon. Across all makes of vehicles, people want a single-cab truck, and companies are taking notice. That could be why the two-door Toyota Hilux has just made its debut.
Plus, the world of tiny trucks is exploding as the Ford Maverick breaks sales records. The Hyundai Santa Cruz is great, but it doesn’t hurt the Maverick. Also, Toyota and Chevy could get into the game.
It’s the perfect time for the single cab Jeep or Comanche pickup to blow the competition away. While the Jeep Gladiator is great for those with towing and hauling needs, it’s big. The longer wheelbase isn’t the best for rock climbing and tight trails.
But a smaller truck might be better equipped for climbing and adventuring. The Comanche could hang out with the two-door Jeep Wrangler.
How would the new Comanche work?
The Jeep Comanche could be based on the Jeep Renegade, like the Ford Maverick is based on the Ford Escape. I could borrow the same platformjust that it would have a pickup bed instead of a back seat.
It might look like the Jeep J6 concept, which made us thirsty for a single-cab Jeep pickup in 2020. Plus, the old Comanche was based on the Jeep Cherokee at the time, so we won’t be counting a Cherokee-based option just yet. .
Also, don’t hit the Jeep Renegade. It’s an incredibly capable off-road vehicle that can venture right into the wild. It keeps up with some total beasts on the trails.
Still, the Jeep Comanche might have an advantage using traditional body-on-frame construction. This would make it more durable for off-road driving and increase suspension travel.
Options like the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz have unibody construction, which helps them handle more like SUVs.
It’s safe to expect a variety of trim levels. The standard model could be available with FWD and 4×4. Also, a Trailhawk trim would bring more off-road prowess to the table. It has the potential to blow the Ford Maverick Tremor out of the water.
How much power will the Comanche have?
Rumors suggest that the Jeep Comanche could borrow from the Jeep Renegade. But when will the Renegade get any new updates? It’s had the same turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine making 177 hp and 210 pound-feet of torque for a while.
There are ideas about a new PHEV setup with 240 hp available. But probably a hybrid truck or a Comanche 4xe will arrive first. Also, we’re still waiting for the Jeep Renegade 4xe. Other countries might have a new turbodiesel model.
