Expensive pickup trucks are extremely popular here in the United States. At the same time, they are also some of the most expensive new vehicles you can buy. When I tested the 2022 Toyota Tundra earlier this year, it had a sticker price of over $90,000. And that’s certainly not cheap. So what are the most expensive pickup trucks for 2023?
Why are trucks so expensive?
Simply put, trucks are expensive because they are durable and versatile. They typically have strong resale values and that shows that people are willing to pay more for this type of vehicle.
Then there’s the fact that it’s what people are willing to pay for. Most manufacturers invest quite a bit of money in trucks, providing them with many comfort and capability features. Consumers seem fine if they pay a premium to get that.
3. 2022 GMC Electric Hummer
It is not so surprising to see an electric truck as one of the most expensive models. The Hummer EV has a starting MSRP of $110,295, which means you’ll have to spend over $100,000 just to buy one. And dealers are likely to brand these models for the foreseeable future.

However, the Hummer EV quite likes it. It offers rear-wheel steering, a 360-degree camera, and other useful items. Plus, you get the benefits of having an EV, which means you don’t have to fill up the pump. For a huge truck like this, that’s definitely a good thing.
This electric truck also boasts some legit off-road capability. Even if most owners don’t drive the Hummer EV off-road, that’s a nice feature.
2. 2023 toyota tundra
By 2023, Toyota’s full-size pickup is one of the most expensive models in its segment. It has a starting MSRP of $39,600 and doesn’t even offer a V8 engine. That said, I did find the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 to provide enough power while driving the Tundra Capstone for a week.

It’s less configurable than other full-size trucks, according to TrueCar, but it was recently redesigned. And its new generation offers an attractive exterior and plenty of cabin space.
Even the base models of this truck have a good list of standard features. And for a starting price of almost $40k, they’re better. It can also be had as a hybrid truck, which is probably a good thing for those looking to save fuel.
1. 2023 GMC Cannon
The GMC Canyon is a midsize truck and shares its platform with the Chevy Colorado. The Canyon is meant to add some luxury to this segment, and it does a pretty good job of it. Especially with its top-of-the-line Denali trim level. In MSRP terms, this truck starts at $28,995, but some models can go as high as around $50,000.

One exciting thing about the Canyon is its new AT4X finish. This makes the Canyon a legitimate off-road truck, rivaling models like the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. Opting for this model also gets you a pretty powerful engine, even if it’s just a four-cylinder.
